Smart Temperature Control Helps Reduce Shrinking and Color Bleeding The Care Control temperature management system enabled by 6th Sense technology helps protect your clothes by controlling water amount and temperature.

Responsive Technology Saves You Water, Energy and Money The H2Low system enabled by 6th Sense technology uses less water per load while delivering better cleaning performance and gentleness than a traditional top load washer.

Keep Operational Sounds Inside the Washer With the Quiet Wash noise reduction system, sound-absorbing materials around the wash basket or drum reduce operational noise.

FanFresh Option for up to 10 Hours Uses industry-changing Dynamic Venting Technology to circulate air in the washer after cycle's end, keeping your clean clothes fresh and free from odors for up to 10 hours so you can wash now and dry later. No other manufacturer offers this technology.

ENERGY STAR® Qualified Meets government standards to help conserve natural resources and save money on utility bills.

CEE Tier III Qualified Based on the Consortium for Energy Efficiency qualified product listings--with Tier III being the most efficient. This model features advanced water & energy savings and may qualify for rebates from local utility companies.

Direct Inject Wash System Penetrates stains and pretreats soils with a concentrated burst of detergent virtually eliminating the need to pretreat. The wash cycle begins only after the entire load has been treated.

Precision Dispense Precision Dispense holds detergent and additives and releases detergent at the correct time during the cycle for optimal fabric care. Detergent mixes with water to penetrate fabrics and virtually eliminate pretreating.

Care Control Temperature Management System The Care Control temperature management system adjusts the cold and hot water inlets to reach temperatures that are warm enough to dissolve detergents. Water is kept from overheating to help reduce color bleeding and to save energy.

Smooth Spin Technology Shock absorbers, springs and electronic controls help redistribute the load automatically and minimize movement of the wash drum during the spin cycle. The result is less noise and vibration for laundry without disruption.

Steam Clean Option Penetrates deep into fabric fibers, breaking down and dissolving stains like grass and grease without pretreating.

NSF® Certified Sanitary Cycles Certified by NSF International to remove 99.9% of certain household bacteria without using bleach. Bacteria tested were Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Staphylococcus aureus.

NightQuiet Option Uses a lower spin speed to further reduce operational sound for quieter operation when you need it. This is a handy option for those whose laundry rooms are located closer to main living area.

Quiet Wash Plus Noise Reduction System Keep operational sounds inside the washer and out of living areas with sound-absorbing materials around the wash basket.

Oxi Dispense Option Enhances whitening performance with an eco-friendly alternative to bleach. An automatic dispenser distributes the oxygenated additive at the appropriate time, sending oxygen through the load to brighten fabrics.

Clean Washer Cycle with Affresh® Use this cycle once a month with Affresh® washer cleaner, to eliminate odor-causing soap residue and mildew that can build up as a result of regular everyday washing. This cycle uses a higher water level and hot water to remove buildup.

Professional delivery and installation is available for every product we sell. We would be happy to coordinate delivery and installation for you.

Extended warranties are usually very inexpensive and can save you thousands in the future. Some can even cover extra costs that result, such as cost of food that spoils when your fridge dies. It's simple and inexpensive to purchase extended warranties and one of the smartest ways to protect your investment.

Appliances can be large, heavy and expensive. You probably don't have the special tools or expertise needed to fix them in a crisis. If you can spare a few thousand dollars without batting an eyelash for new appliances should they break tomorrow, don't buy a warranty. But if you're like most of us, protect yourself by purchasing inexpensive extended warranties when you buy a new product and save yourself big money in the long run.

2nd one, both worked great for just 4 years

Disappointed mother 11/12/2016

I have purchased two of this exact washing machine (Whirlpool duet 3.9 ft. steam front load washer with fan fresh). In both machines, the ball bearings went out when they were each four years old. The cost to repair it is approximately $1800. It's cheaper to buy new one. Infuriating that whirlpool has not fixed this known flaw. The service people both said that this is a common problem with front loading washing machine's. I'm switching back to the old-school style. It's too expensive otherwise. These machines should last more than four years.

Loud spin cycle

6/21/2016

I purchased my duet steam washer in 2012. As I've read in other reviews, my washer is so loud during the spin cycle that we have to close the sliding door leading to laundry room and is still very loud. I asked my local repairman, while he was there repairing my duet steam dryer. . .why it was so loud and he said the bearing was out and that Whirlpool has had problems with this particular model. To get the bearing replaced would cost more than a new washer. I called customer service about this and they said they could pay half toward a new washer. I still believe that is unacceptable for a product less than 5 years old.

Simply the best washer!

7/20/2015

You want the most for your money & your time? Then this is the washer you want!! It's quiet, simple, fast & extremely effecient. I'm a compulsive cleaner especially with my husband on the farm. Having laundry done & not having to waste time then this is the way to go. I also purchased the matching dryer & I couldn't be any happier!! This has allowed me to live our busy life & still have that quality time with my family which is extremely important. Cost effective as well. Meets & has exceeded my expectations. You won't be disappointed!

I like the washer, it works well, it is quite, nice looking, and easy to use. I do not really like the front load, but in my case I needed a stackable.Having said that, I really like Whirlpool, I am impressed with the quality and style, I bought Whirlpool based on the brand name, and the quality is there.

Very Very Happy!

12/22/2013

I bought my first house and needed all new appliances. I almost went with just the cheapest appliances available (as I was pretty cash strapped). But decided to spend the money on quality appliances that will last. I've had the washer for a yer now and have been very pleased with the performance. The clothing comes out clean and smelling fresh. My mother has an older front loader and I always thought the clothes came out rather twisted together. I don't know how this washer is different but the clothes haven't ever been a tangled mess. I also LOVE the steam option for when I'm washing my bathroom rugs and kitchen towels. My only complaint is that the drawer for the soap and such feels very flimsy. But other than that the washer feels like it's very well built and solid.

It was great while it lasted

Carr151 5/10/2013

We were very pleased with the Whirlpool Duet washer and dryer we purchased. However, at about 8 months after we purchased it the washer started to get louder. Now, 13 months later, we can not here the television when the washer goes into the spin cycle. It was great while it lasted.

Not impressed

csbvs 4/4/2013

Cycles are extremely long. The machine doesn't use enough water to rinse the clothes properly. Often, I have to put the clothes through multiple rinse cycles. (No, I'm not using too much detergent. No, I'm not over-loading the machine. I'm following the directions. If I use any less detergent the clothes don't come clean.) When washing one item (like a really dirty towel), the machine won't spin the water out of the item. The door won't open all the way back, so it sticks out in the walkway when open. I like that the machine is fairly quiet. I like that I can get a large comforter in it, but then I wonder if the detergent gets rinsed out.

Front loader Washer

ML1234 3/31/2013

Washer works well for the time I've had it, about 3 months. I took the 5 year extended warranty just to be safe as my previous washer conked out after about 2 1/2 years just after the warranty expired. Multiple cycle options and other options make custom choice a plus. The washer comes with a steam cleaning feature but I hardly use it to save on energy. Big plus is that it uses much less water than a top loader and gets the clothes just as clean. also balancing the load is not a big issue as with a top loader. Bulky item cycle is a big plus. The door catch is a bit rough (meaning the door closes a bit harshly) but does not affect the washer performance. Other than that the machine is fine up to now. I plug into a surge protector as that caused the previous washer to go bad. Washer is mostly very quiet with a low noise level.

Great Machine!!!

3/31/2013

We truly love our front load washer and everything that it can do. It cleans beautifully and we love the fact that it has the special place to put oxiclean and soap and bleach and you only need a tablespoon of liquid soap per wash. It is a great machine! We truly do not have any complaints on the machine. We couldn't be happier with it!!!

Great Washer!

3/11/2013

I was hesitant about getting a front loader but always wanted to try one. I'm so glad that I did! I love the washer! It uses so much less water, is gentle on the clothes, makes hardly any sound, and has so many features. I bought it on sale, which made it an even greater value. I would highly recommend this product.

Great washer

Macie11 3/11/2013

I've had my washer for about 8 months and I haven't found anything that I don't like about it. The one noticeable difference between it and a top load is that the clothes do get all tangled with each other, but I guess that means they're getting washed well, so I don't consider that a bad thing. It is very quiet and does not use a lot of water. I love the quick wash feature for things that do not need to go through a regular cycle.

Great Washer

2/14/2013

This is a great washer. Holds a lot of clothes. When you have a large load of heavy clothes, it spins until has water spun out. Timer might say 1 minute but it could be 5 because too much water still in clothes. My clothes are really clean and machine does not beat up my clothes. Washer was less expensive than other brands. Also like the fact that it is made in the US.

Good machine but too many unneeded features

Mthtr 2/13/2013

Bendix was the first front loader I owned. It was simple, easy to use and so well built I had it for 50 years until I couldn't get parts for it. This machine is loaded with features, most of which I will never use. More features means there are more things to break, and bigger repair bills when they do. The requirement to use special soap or the machine could be damaged speaks to the issue of reliability. Modern detergents get cloths clean in cold water, a simple machine is easy to use and probably more reliable. This machine does the job beautifully but has too many features.

Pretty Good Washer

2/7/2013

So far this has been a good washer. However, it did have some issues after ten months of use, but they were covered under the warranty. The washer needed a new drum and a couple of other things I cannot remember off of the top of my head. The repair guys were great. Very professional and did a wonderful job.

Do NOT purchase this washer... you WILL be sorry and out of

Unhappy2day 2/19/2012

Within 6 months of purchasing this Front End Washing Machine it began to make a loud screeching sound. The sound got louder and louder until it was unbearable and waking up my kids while they slept. We have always purchased all Whirlpool appliances and after this one we will never purchase another Whirlpool . This washer was purchased at the same time as a good friend of mine. To my surprise my washer started to make an awful sound about two months prior to his. So we had a repair man come out to give us a quote for the repair. The cost for labor and parts would be more than the cost of a brand new washing machine. We were shocked and frustrated with this news!!! Keep in mind this machine only lasted 6 months before it went bad and my previous washing machine lasted 16 years! Based upon my experience and previous current reviews... It appears this washer is a defective product and should not be sold until the problem is fixed!BEWARE and read ALL reviews prior to purchasing.

Three drum bearings have failed in one year

nowhirlpool 1/10/2012

I have had to have the machine serviced three times since it was first purchased. The drum bearings failed 4 months after purchase. The parts were constantly back-ordered so I contacted the retail store who replaced the original. Since then (July 2010) the drum bearings have failed two times - one in October and one in January 2012. A&E Service was out today to order another replacement drum

Great features, clean clothes, fresh-smelling, BUT broken do

Maggiepedia 1/1/2012

For the first six months, this machine performed admirably. My clothes came out smelling clean and fresh, and the stain-removal from clothing was excellent. The quick cycle works great for small loads or jeans that are not very dirty. The steam cycle is excellent for those musty-smelling towels and stinky teenaged-boy clothes. After six to nine months, the amount of noise during the spin cycle had gradually increased. Our first-floor laundry has its own door, and even when shut, it was nearly impossible to hear the television on the OPPOSITE side of the house. The machine began to sound like a jet airplane was taking off in our backyard. Eventually, the machine began making loud, clunking sounds (I remember the first time, I was SURE my son had left his cell phone in the pocket of his pants, but no!). Still, the clothes were coming out clean, and I thought maybe a lump of undissolved Oxi-Clean was behind the tub. However, after a few weeks the tub began draining poorly, the noises became unbearable, and I called to get it repaired. I had purchased the extended warranty, thankfully, and it is about to be repaired. It needs a new tub and bearings. I am hopeful that this is the last repair it will need, but from what I've read about these models, that is not likely. So buy if you like, but make sure you get an extended warranty.

This product is exellent

joyce123 10/20/2011

I have had absolutely great outcomes with this washer. It gets small or large loads very clean; the laundry is nearly dry when you take it out of the washer and takes only a few minutes in the matching steam dryer to dry. We have had no issues with the washer since we got it last January. We had it installed on the shorter pedestals by the Whirlpool technicians so we do not have an issue with the noise that others have stated. It does sound like an airplane engine when it spins, but it is not that loud.

Do not buy this washer.

Qwerty1234 9/27/2011

This washer has nice features, but its durability is terrible. After only a few months the circuit board failed. The machine completely shut down to the point where we could not even remove the clothes that were in the tub. Then, after about 14 months (2 months after the factory warranty expired), the washer spin cycle became extremely loud. The A&E technician said that the washer had been damaged because, in his words, it is only supposed to be run with a full load. As far as I can tell, the manual says nothing about this. I also noticed that reviewers for the 9550 model are saying similar things about the tub needing to be replaced after about a year, so I think the problem is with the product, not the user. The technician then quoted us a price of $1500 in parts and labor to repair the problem, which is more than the cost of the washer itself. Needless to say, we will be buying another brand of washer in the near future.
