Professional delivery and installation is available for every product we sell. We would be happy to coordinate delivery and installation for you.

Extended warranties are usually very inexpensive and can save you thousands in the future. Some can even cover extra costs that result, such as cost of food that spoils when your fridge dies. It's simple and inexpensive to purchase extended warranties and one of the smartest ways to protect your investment.

Appliances can be large, heavy and expensive. You probably don't have the special tools or expertise needed to fix them in a crisis. If you can spare a few thousand dollars without batting an eyelash for new appliances should they break tomorrow, don't buy a warranty. But if you're like most of us, protect yourself by purchasing inexpensive extended warranties when you buy a new product and save yourself big money in the long run.

Ice forms at bottom of freezer

bobshur 8/21/2019

First noticed a puddle on the floor a year ago. Later found ice forming at the bottom of the freezer, so maybe that ice melting is the source of the puddles. Came back after vacation recently to find that I couldn't open the freezer door because of so much ice.

Not a good appliance

Lois5044 4/11/2019

We bought this because of the great reviews, with in the first 2 years we had to replace the ice maker, clean out the drain tube (poor design) and force defrost every once in a while. Now I am having to force defrost every few weeks, and it is maybe 6 years old. I found out this morning the control board is bad, another $250 in parts and who know how much in labor if I cannot do it myself.

Loved it but not now!

Tammy331 10/3/2018

The freezer has been forming ice on the bottom. I did not notice and it leaked onto my kitchen floor. I have interlocking laminate so basically the floor under my refrigerator is raised now. As I read the review of other people they seem to have the same problem why has Whirlpool not addressed the issue. This refrigerator receive great reviews from Customer Reviews that why I bought it but now I just don't think it was worth the money.

Ice In Freezer

M Billet 9/25/2018

I bought this Whirlpool Gold Bottom Freezer Refrigerator several years ago when I purchased my home. Lately there has been ice accumulating in the freezer that sometimes makes it impossible to open the freezer door. I am now worried that I will have water leaking out from the freezer onto my kitchen floor as several others do. This unit is supposed to be frost free. Very unhappy. :(

Issues and poor manual

Cswagner 5/6/2018

Two major issues in the 2 years that we've had it. Whirlpool does not make it easy to troubleshoot and the manual would be best used as firestarter. It's not helpful in the slightest.

Freezer is cold, refrigerator is warm.

MrsDanny 4/24/2018

Bought in November 2011 had only problems since then. Like most of the reviews we had a giant sheet of ice on the bottom and the freezer would leak and leave puddles on the floor, and my husband and I would take turns scraping it. My husband was able to fix that problem, but now the freezer is very cold, but the refrigerator is luke warm. I wish we would have known how many problem this freezer/refrigerator would cause. If we did we definitely would have not purchased.

Two repair issues in 5 years

Gigg 4/20/2018

I bought this model in January 2013 and after 4 years the ice maker quit. Repair company said new one would cost $400. Today the refrigerator is making constant clicking noises and service call placed. Refrigerators costing $1500 should last longer than 5 years. Won't buy Whirlpool again.

6 Years Later & the Motherboard/CPU is DEAD!

JohnnyDucati 12/29/2017

Bought from Sears about six years ago, and five years in started having serious issues. First it was the ice buildup everyone refers to. That was a nightmare trying to defrost the entire freezer without damaging my beautiful floors. Then the motherboard started acting up. Often the fridge would just stop working. Just got back from xmas vacation and my fridge is finally dead, and everything in it is spoiled. I've been dealing with this issue off and on for two years. It's been a struggle. SEE PICS Local repair person says it's about $400 to buy and replace the motherboard, and no guarantees that will fix it! The opposite of awesome!

mixed feelings

muse 12/29/2017

I've had this fridge for about 2 years, and almost right away I noticed it was leaking on the floor. And after reading other reviews, I think it must be a factory error. Otherwise it's a good fridge, but a pool of water underneath every once in a while is frustrating.

Same Problem different Fridge

Denny_trow 12/5/2017

Bought this fridge and works great. about a year ago, I realized I couldn't shut the freezer door anymore. I then looked into it and realized that I had a sheet of ice on the bottom of the freezer about 3/4" to 1" thick that was preventing freezer from closing. I broke that up, but it keeps happening. Same issue as every one else. Ice maker doesn't make solid ice. Just overall not very happy with this fridge.

Winky63 11/20/2017

Bought several years ago and noticed pudding on floor. Thought my aging dog was losing control of bladder. Finally figured out it was water leaking from ice buildup in freezer. Top door sits slanted and can't get it level. Will be buying new fridge.

Leaking Water

Puddles on Floor, Ice in Bottom of Freezer

8/30/2017

I've got the same problem as others ... every week or so we find a puddle on the floor coming from the freezer. This happens when the bottom of the freezer fills with ice and there is nowhere for the additional water to go other than to force itself through the door seal and onto the floor. VERY DISAPPOINTING after only 5 years! The only remedy is to stay ahead of the ice buildup in the freezer, but who wants to be emptying their freezer and chiseling ice out of the bottom every week? We are shopping for a replacement unit, and it won't be a Whirlpool.

Disappointed

7/14/2017

Very disappointed about this refrigerator, I have always thought highly of Whirlpool, but for about 4 weeks now we are having problems. Our freezer keeps icying up and our fridge gets warm. It has happened multiple times now and we have tried all the fix-it-yourself ideas and it is fixed only briefly before the problem starts again. For such an expensive fridge we expected longer life than this! Reading these reviews it looks like this is a common defect the company should address.

FrankieV 7/13/2017

Overall, I am quite happy with this fridge except that I have a similar experience as another reviewer in that it has started to leak water onto the floor and the bottom of the freezer is covered with ice. I do not have the ice maker hooked up nor do I have a water dispenser set up.

Clara 3/19/2017

Not bad.

2/15/2017

We bought this unit used from a big box store and they said it was only a few months old. That was a lie because there was enough fur and hair on the coils to make a coat. We cleaned the coils and it has been 4 or 5 years now and have had no issues. My marital investment loves the unit. We maintain it yearly too. We just can't get the light cover off to change the bulbs, yet.

Not a good choice. Whirlpool...NEVER again.

1/29/2017

When I purchased this fridge, the repair guy was out twice for not getting cold enough. He even had to call the company to walk him through repairing it. Now 3 months after the warranty run out, the freezer is working and cold but the fridge is not cooling. It is at 55 to 60 degrees. After research, took the back off to find frozen pipe (as seen on many reviews). Thawed with dryer but at this point still not cooling. Will probably have to unload freezer and call repair man. Already has to throw away groceries from last nights grocery shopping, must pay repair bill.... Probably better to buy new fridge according to others reviews. Very disappointed. I liked the room, the bottom freezer, and style. But it's gonna be tough to replace food, repair, and/or buy new appliance. Definitely do NOT recommend whirlpool at this point.

Leaking water, frozen ice block below the freezer

1/23/2017

I'm very disappointed in the product quality and that Whirlpool would put this product on the market. It's an absolute nuisance to have to manually de-ice this unit every 7-10 days. I investigated the issue after seeing a puddle of water on my floor and an ice sheet below my freezer. I opened the back panel inside the refrigerator which is not easy to get to and noticed a leak coming from one of the pipes that had been taped and sealed, not soldered. The evaporated was partially frozen as well, so I took a hair-dryer to the line and evaporator as suggested. This procedure did not solve the problem. I can see from the other reviews that this is a very common problem with no solution being provided by Whirlpool. I'm stuck with monitoring the unit on a regular basis until I can replace the unit. I suspect that this may be the reason for my increased electrical usage and higher monthly bills. I will not buy another Whirlpool product as I can see this is not something they seem to be concerned about.

Water for the ice maker leaks to the bottom of the freezer. The temperature isn't consistent. Won't buy whirlpool products again. Also have a microwave which stays on when you open the door. The fan doesn't turn off so I have to unplug it. And also won't turn on with the door closed. Both under 2 years old. No wonder it's discontinued.

Waste of Money - Needs to be constantly manually defrosted

Overheated 10/8/2016

I started out liking this fridge even though the freezer does not hold as much food as it should because of the small baskets. However, one week after it went out of warranty, the fun started with the frost build-up in the freezer with very little cold air making it into the refrigerator. 60 degrees is not good for a refrigerator. I'm tired of practically crawling into the freezer with a hair dryer to try to unfreeze the coils and the duct for the cold air to go into the top part of the refrigerator. Extremely poor design, and I'm getting rid of it as soon as I can because I've had it. I will never buy another Whirlpool product after this debacle. I called a Whirlpool repairman who was nice enough to tell me that there was no "fix" for this besides manually defrosting it, and since I'm currently a caregiver to someone who is recovering from major spinal surgery, I don't have the time. Stay away from this model or any other Whirlpool that forces air from the freezer up into the refrigerator.

Died at 2 years old!

Crying Over Spilled Milk 9/19/2016

We bought this refrigerator a little over 2 years ago, and it died suddenly over the weekend. 1000 oz of irreplaceable frozen breast milk gone! We were happy with this refrigerator before its sudden death. We are still trying to figure out what happened. If we figure it out, I will update this review. Since it is outside the 1-year warranty, any repairs are on us. Very disappointing for a 2-year-old appliance.

Multiple Problems

Unhappy NJ Customer 3/5/2016

For two years, I dealt with the water in the bottom of the freezer and leaking out which ruined my kitchen floor and finally got that problem solved and now it a cold freezer and warm refrigerator. I have to manually defrost the unit about every two weeks which takes approximately three hours each time. It will be my first and last Whirlpool appliance. My last refrigerator was 16 years old. Whirlpool sure lacks quality.

Angry customer will never buy whirlpool again

ML 12/13/2015

I have all things whirlpool....washer, dryer, fridge, dishwasher, microwave and oven. Within my warranty period, we discovered that the freezer was not sealing. This of course leads to losing everything because it also ruins the food in the refrigerator when the freezer isn't working. So after having this issue repaired TWICE to no avail we have to constantly slam the drawer over and over until the track resets and forms a seal every single time we open the freezer. I have always bought whirlpool but will never do it again. This unit should have been replaced considering I was still under warranty and the problem was never resolved. Never ever ever ever again.

May Never Buy Whirlpool Again!

10/1/2015

This refridgerator is less than 3 years old. This morning, we opened the bottom freezer to find that it wasn't very cold and items had begun to thaw. Thankfully we have a chest freezer in the basement and were able to move everything into there. Stuck a thermometer in there, made sure the freezer door was completely closed and gave it some time. After 4 hours, it was only down to 38 degrees! Called for service. Tech came out, took off the back panel and said "there's your problem"! One of teh refridgerant lines runs through the drip tray and, surprise, had completely rotted out due to expsoure to water. The unit has been leaking coolant for God knows how long with the compressor running and, even if we repair it, they will not guarantee it due to the compressor having air mixed in with the oil. Repair estimate is $500 - $600! As an engineer by trade, I was shocked to learn that this layout is by design! I have had Whirlpool appliances for 21 years now but it is unlikely that the new top freezer I now have to go purchase will be another one...

"Sure Don't Make 'Em Like They Used To"

The Food Shuffler 9/17/2015

I actually bought this refrigerator about 3 years ago, but just recently registered it. I am not happy with the product, as I have had repairs made four times by Whirlpool approved service companies. I am currently still having the same issue. 1 - Refrigerator leaks water onto my floor. 2 - Defrost stops working in freezer, which leads to 3 - The refrigerator section stops cooling. I have had to unload the entire refrigerator each time this happens to manually defrost it, which is a HUGE inconvenience. I spent ALOT of money on this refrigerator and repairs, and it continues to malfunction. I won't be purchasing a Whirlpool refrigerator again.

Known defect

9/16/2015

Works ok. Freezer drawer on the bottom is not my preferred set-up, but you get used to packing it. Then there is the known issue with the drain line getting clogged and needing replacement. This was discovered after a water leak that damaged my laminate flooring. A conversation with Whirlpool then let me know the product is outside of warranty and I'm on my own. Not real pleased.

I like the settings set up, cleanliness/airiness of fridge. Keeps temperature really well and does a great job on ice -

Not great!

8/13/2015

Three years old and service calls already! Water build up on floor would melt and end up leaking water all over or floor. That had to have service call (no warranty). Then another call when the defrost cycle caused leaking into the downstairs. The drain pan had a crack in it which appeared to have tape over it put on in the factory! Would not buy Whirlpool again.

DO NOT BUY THIS REFRIGERATOR!!!

Onca 8/4/2015

If I could have given this a zero, I would have. I live in Florida, and of course, the humidity is high. Within 6 months of buying the refrigerator, there were rust spots everywhere on the face of the refrigerator. I have had a microwave with brushed steel finish for eight years, and never did a rust spot appear. The appliances are located within 3 feet of each other; hence, they are exposed to the same elements. I called Whirlpool and was told oh-so-sorry-too-bad. They don't warranty their lousy product for this problem. However, the customer service rep suggested I purchase another product made especially for cleaning/preserving the finish. What? Keep sending them money for a poorly designed product? NEVER AGAIN will I support Whirlpool by making a purchase of one of their products. This is a bad way to conduct business.

Plenty of room in this fridge

7/20/2015

My family is very happy with this fridge. There's a ton of room in it. The shelves on the doors can be rearranged easily. The bins are easy to remove to clean. The freezer on the bottom is so convenient. Great buy!

BEST Designed Refrigerator

Monkey Britches 5/6/2015

When you go to your refrigerator 20x more often than to your freezer this design is a no-brainer! Why have a side -by-side that dedicates 50% of the access real estate to something you go to only 5% of the time?

Looks good, does the job, flawed freezer.

npfp 5/1/2015

I really like having the refrigerated section at eye level. I don't like the design of the freezer. We've lost two freezer-loads of food because packaging got caught in the wire baskets, imperceptibly preventing the drawer from fully closing. I'm shopping for a remote temperature sensor/alarm to prevent another loss. Limited freezer capacity and inability to store items in an upright position add to my buyer's remorse.

ice problem

Jean16 2/28/2015

We had this refrigerator for 4 years before the icing and water problem. We also came back from vacation and found it wasn't cooling. Paid almost $500 to fix it. Service guy said Whirlpool had a new tube to correct icing problem so I spent money for that. This past week the ice and water problem started again. No more Whirlpool products for us. I gambled and we lost.

Bought this model earlier in the year and have been happy with it so far.Lots of room in refrigerator and like the fact do not have to reach down for veggie bins.Do not mind not having water in door, just put a Brita to put in fridge.

Very Good Refrigerator

harrycane 12/24/2014

This refrigerator came with our house as part of a flip. It is a solid refrigerator that keeps food cold and a bottom freezer that keeps things frozen. And it has good room for storage.

A review which will probably not get published

Jade Bonterra 12/19/2014

What I purchased (prior to this review) was a part which is required to fix a DESIGN problem with this refrigerator. This problem can be found documented by hundreds, if not thousands of people who bought this fridge. The problem results in pools of water on the floor every 2 weeks. By pools I mean 2-4 sq ft of water. This should have resulted in a recall and a free repair. And by the way, the replacement part is less expensive on Amazon than through the Whirlpool replacement part site. Hopefully, Whirlpool has fixed this DESIGN problem. The part applicability is for dozens of models which Whirlpool produced for a variety of labels.
