I purchased this refrigerator 5 years ago and the compressor is already burnt out. It would cost $250 to replace the compressor, $75.00 for the relay, and approx. $300 for the service call. This refrigerator is a piece of JUNK JUNK JUNK. Don't buy it. Most refrigerators last at least 10 years. I will never purchase a Whirlpool again. Very unsatisfied customer!!!

My refrigerator came with the townhouse when I bought it in 2007. Now my refrigerator is not working at all. It broke down right before Thanksgiving and I am a senior citizen and can't afford to get it fixed or get a new one right now. I want to go back to Maytag. A brand I grew up with and trust. Oh, and the ice maker, something was wrong with that. They ice always tasted salty for some reason.

Pull out shelves would've been nice but maybe they were on a more expensive model. It's a bit noisy when the water runs to fill the ice. And the light came on for water or ice in the door whenever that particular button was pushed so you didn't have to turn it off & on manually.

So when we built our new house earlier this year, we installed this one (because we liked the older version of it so much). As before, this fridge is wonderful! I am overall happy with the refrigerator, but since owning it, I have had to do a warranty call for a crack in the drip pan causing it to leak on the floor when the freezer went into defrost cycle. Also, the crisper bin developed a rather large crack in it after the "cosmetic warranty" was over. I think both of these issues could have been prevented by a little higher quality of plastic. Another thing to mention is the somewhat high price of the built-in water filter when compared to it's short life span... but I guess that is the norm with the filtered in-door water/ice. It is only loud when the ice maker is filling.
