1/5 Stars ™ SCALDING BURN HAZARD. Wear Mitts
SRP2672
9/23/2026
DO NOT BUY. Like many others, this stovetop was pushed on us as a premium "upgrade" by our home builder. It is a complete waste of time, money, and is an absolute safety liability in our home. The performance is a joke. It takes 10 to 12 minutes just to boil a single cup of water on high heat. Let™™s be completely clear: the cookware is perfectly sized, and the flames are contained entirely under the pans. The unit simply lacks basic heating power. Far more concerning is the blatant manufacturing defect: the front two control knobs become scalding hot during normal use. This is a severe burn hazard. KitchenAid customer service is an absolute disgrace. A certified technician spoke directly to their tech support from my kitchen, only to be told it was "operator error." When I demanded to speak with senior corporate support, the response was insulting. I was told to "wear oven mitts" to turn the knobs on my brand-new appliance. When I pushed back and asked what happens if a child or a guest touches these blazing hot knobs and gets severely burned, the senior representative literally responded that they would "deal with that when and if it happened." An adult has already been burned by this unit but since the user was not immediately taken to an ER for documentation of a 1st degree burn, KitchenAid openly does not care. Never mind the fact that a 2 physician family is able to diagnose and treat a burn at home without calling an ambulance just so that corporate KitchenAid can be satisfied with medical-legal documentation. This company is knowingly leaving a hazardous appliance in my home and refusing accountability. KitchenAid corporate legal doe not actually care about product safety. Fix this, or replace this dangerous unit immediately.

The surface is kinda rough and difficult to clean (especially the front slab where the knobs are). Feels high quality but is hard to clean and gets finger stains very easily. Even the grates are super rough and tears whatever i use to clean it and the cleaning cloth/paper leaves residue on the grates. Overall love the quality if the burner and the look in the kitchen.

We paid for an upgraded kitchen package in our new home and this is the cooktop that was included. What a disappointment.
1. The grates are too high and as another reviewer mentioned 'you waste too much energy to get the pan to heat up adequately.
2. It is physically impossible to cook with two medium pans on the front two burners. They get in each other's way.

Very little space for pans and grills

We got it with our new house. Builder didn't give us a choice. The knobs take too much space. There is no way to put a double flat grill. Any 12" pan won't fit on the front burners without covering the knobs. I want to replace it with and induction top, but now I have to change the very expensive counter top.

This is the cooktop that was in our new home.I was happy to have gas, but not sure about the power and BTUs on it. It is good except lighting the outer ring of the middle burner can be tricky. I have had the gas ranges with the red knobs, and this heats as well as it, and the grates are not as heavy to move to clean.

This is one of the worst for cleaning. First, the stainless doesn™™t shine well. It has a rough surface that leaves streaks. Secondly, all the grates connect so you have to remove them all to get to the center or right side to clean up any spills. Not a quick job. The print on the controls is nearly impossible to see. I have to use my phone flashlight. Also, the knobs are so close to the flame, I have to use a pot holder to adjust or turn them off. I was so excited for our kitchen remodel so that I would finally have a bright, shiny stove. This piece has been a huge disappointment. Horrible design.

I have been using Kitchen Aid appliances for the last 6 years and for the most part has been very satisfied with the products ranging from gas cooktop, wall oven and microwave, dishwasher, ventilation hood. The only exception is with the refrigerator. I had to purchase extended warranty service for the unit I had as I require continuous repairs every 3 to 4 months ranging from compressor issue, ice maker issue, water dispenser issue, door issues, and intermittent outage. Notwithstanding I recently purchase the latest Kitchen Aid refrigerator in my second home and I hope it is a more reliable product.

I do love many features about my new cooktop; the cooktop surface, the higher strength burners, the heavy control handles. There are a few things I don't like: the front burners have alot of BTUs and a larger pan, especially a skillet, hangs over the control knobs. I wish the grates were hinged and each one could be lifted up separately. And it seems to take longer to boil water than my previous cooktop. But the better surface is worth it.

I had an earlier model of the 36" KitchenAid cooktop several years ago in a different home. I enjoy this one just as much, but just like the older one, this new one has a problem with one of the burners. I haven't been able to use the little burner (upper left). Though the igniter tries to light it and I can smell the gas, the flame will not light. I haven't had the cooktop long enough to investigate the problem. I did buy an extended warranty and will try to get someone to fix it.

This is a great cooktop. Works well and the burners are placed far enough that I can cook with large pots and still have room. Knobs are easy to use. And cleaning the cooktop is super easy. The grates aren™™t too big and lift off easily. The surface underneath doesn™™t have any crevices or spots that collect crumbs. Spills clean up easily and the cooktop looks new. Very happy with it.

The stainless steel is very easy to smear but hard to clean, and the grills are too large for the cooktop. The flame sits to far from the pans. The first day it was used the burner tops got permanently stained and would not get cleaned.

I gave 4 stars but would say it's more like 3.5 stars.
It's a nice-looking cooktop and the cooktop functions well (see photo of mine). So far (5 months in), the cooktop burners have all lit right up each and every time. I particularly like the center burner (see photo), which is like a booster burner when, oddly enough, you put the knob in the 'middle' position. It causes a nice gust of flames from both the edges, but also straight up the middle. It helps shave time off when boiling water.
What I don't care much for is that the surface isn't what I would call easy to clean. Messes just don't wipe off very easily for some reason. I also don't like the low setting on the two front corner burners. On my old range top, the low settings on the larger burners was absolutely perfect for simmering. That was a GE Profile cooktop that I purchased some 15 years ago with my last new build home. Unfortunately, this one doesn't quite go low enough for a basic simmer. Instead, it retains a boil. The only option is to move the pan to one of the small burners, and then it only heats a small portion of a 10" skillet.
The other gripe I have is the markings for the knobs are so incredibly light, it's hard to easily see which knob goes to which burner (see 2 photos, couldn't even capture the markings well at all)
Overall, it's a nice unit. Is it great? Maybe not. Is it bad? No.

Within 2 months the sparklers stopped working. On inspection, the spark unit itself had failed with internal arcing across ports and 2 dead ports. The wires to 2 of the igniters failed, with one arcing on a bad termination at the bottom of the igniters failed and the other so poorly crimped at the spark unit plug that the wire fell off when touched.

Double-burner great for canning or large pots.
M377
9/15/2025
The range was already installed in our new home. I like the burners, especially the middle that has a double burner for normal or large pots. Canning will be easier with a double burner. I do wish the wording for the control knobs was a little larger or at least more legible. They are very faint and hard to see. I hope in time they do not wear off. The other issue is that the grates are not quite level, so when adding oil to a pan, it goes to one side.

This stovetop came with our new home; we were excited to have a gas stovetop, but I cannot wait to remove it from our home.
Pro:
Looks nice
Cons:
Cannot read the dials; they are etched into the stainless (impossible to read)
Grates are too high from the flame, it takes longer to cook my food
Boiling a large pot of water takes forever, probably because of the grate height
Extremely hard to keep this stovetop clean. I clean it every day, it takes 20 minutes to clean properly (even with a StoveGuard)
Only 3 months old, and it has a scratch already (ugh)

Poor design, waste of energy
SupriyaNJ
8/18/2025
We upgraded to Model kcgs556ess with our new construction home. I feel it is a total waste of money that was spent towards this upgrade. The grills are so high and it lacks the performance of a gas stove. The two smallest burners are a waste, it takes forever to cook on them. The space between each burner is less and the space between the front burners and knob is too close. With the tight spacing and poor design I have been so close to burning my fingers multiple times. Highly disappointed with this design of kitchenaid

Needs a full redesign.
Pass on this one
7/28/2025
This cooktop was included in our 'gourmet kitchen package' upgrade when we chose to build with Pulte Homes.
While this unit has 5 burners, I feel like I have been reduced to using just the center one, as the layout is too small to accommodate more than 2 tiny pots on each side, as even a regular size vessel on either front burner will extend well over the front of the controls just to be centered over the burner. Making matters worse, the writing for the controls is so faint that they blend in with the stainless and can only be read by holding your head in an exact position to be able to see them, which makes using the back burner controls dangerous. In addition, there are no lights or indicators showing if a burner is on or off, which is an additional danger. The grates are too high, which not only makes bringing a pot to boil on any of the side burners take forever, but also makes it extremely easy to get an arm burn. Only the center burner can provide a rapid boil, but that is where the pluses end for that burner as well, as it cannot truly simmer because it cannot be turned down far enough when using a large vessel, as the outer flame can only be used with the inner flame on, not by itself. If you change to the center flame only, the contents in the center of the vessel overcook, while the rest remains uncooked, unless one stirs continuously.
While I love to cook and have been deemed the 'chef' by our extended family & friends, after six months of trying to adapt to using this cooktop, it has succeeded only in taking the enjoyment out of cooking in my new gourmet kitchen. Lastly, this cooktop needs to be completely disassembled after every use to be cleaned, which is a total pain. I can only wonder if anyone at KitchenAid actually tested or used this cooktop. If there was any possible way I could return it, I certainly would.
