Very poor design. the burners are not sealed unlike my old unit. there is a weird hole underneath each one, and any spills goes directly into the unit. I tried contacting the customer care, but they refuse to take it back. I want to return this.

New stovetop appears to be durable with easily cleaned stainless steel base. We™™re in a new home with builder installed kitchen products. The cooktop uses propane gas for fuel, and was initially installed without the conversion.. Biggest issue? Inability to lower flames to slowly simmer pots/pans. Searing is GREAT, but simmering sucks! This should be factory verified prior to installation™¦

Center Burner Blows Off

We have a new home and our stove is less than two years old. The center burner keeps blowing off the top cap. We have had a repair tech out and they replaced the cap, burner and gas line and value. It continues to blow the cap off. We only use this burner when we can be close to monitor. We love the look of all our KitchenAid appliances, but it is unfortunate that this continues to happen for the price. Beware!

I love this cooktop. I think it's beautiful, easy to clean and works very well. My favorite thing is the metal, not plastic knobs. They are so easy to keep nice and shiny. I've had a high end designer cooktop with plastic knobs that I had to replace and they were $200 for 5 knobs so this is really a big plus for me.

This appliance was selected by the builder and it has performed good. We have a lot of cooking space and that is a plus and is easy to clean. Only con, it scratches easily when cleaning with a paper towel. It should scratch resistant.

This unit was installed by the house builder and I have to say it is the worst stainless steel I have ever had with the heaviest iron grids. The stainless is always messy and the iron grids do not fit any sink for cleaning. The on/off buttons are always a mess with grease splashes and always require cleaning. I had hoped for a satin finish with the knobs on the front and so out of the way but not so. The burners are too fierce and incorrectly placed. The large ring for a large pot should always, always be at the back whilst a small pan on low gas at the front. It is not a good cook top for me.

I like your products, especially the gas cooktop that I purchased in the 1980s. I replaced it recently with an equilivant gas cooktop. The new gas cooktop has a greater distance between the burner and the brace that holds the pots and pans. This larger distance seems to reduce cooking efficiency. My old cook top could boil four quarts of water in less than five minutes. The new top takes more than ten minutes. Do you guys sell a brace that is closer to the burner? I suspect that an inch closer to the burners would improve cooking time and use less gas---which would be a huge contribution to the solution to global warming. Have you guys done any research about the optimal distance between the burner and the brace that holds the pots and pans? Could you sell a brace that is closer to the gas burners?

KitchenAid™™s False Advertising ™ Missing Griddle S
BIG SCAM
8/23/2025
Beware of KitchenAid™™s scam! I bought a cooktop advertised as including a griddle, but it never arrived. Instead, I got a slip of paper telling me to register online for instructions to claim it. I registered, but no email ever came. After months of calling customer service and being endlessly transferred, I was told I could order one for $0 when available. It™™s now been six months, I™™ve received no updates, and yet KitchenAid has been selling the griddle on their website this whole time. Totally dishonest advertising and terrible customer service.
Here are the emails I got from Kitchenaid

I hope that this email finds you well. I am sorry that you have not received the griddle yet.
These are supposed to be sent out once the unit has been registered. As of right now they are on a back order and have no eta. We will send one to you as soon as they become available. I apologize for this delay.

New Gas Cooktop
8/18/2025
We have only been using the cooktop for a couple of weeks. However, it is easy to use and has the basic features one looks for in a mid-range gas cooktop. The simmer burner does simmer. It would be better for installations if the gas input port were in the rear rather than the bottom. The current configuration makes the top drawer in the cabinet a challenge to keep useful. Who can help me with the hidden damage on my wall oven door?

This is a nice cook top, however what its missing is a huge safety issue. When you turn the knobs since they don't light up you can accidently move the knobs while wiping the cook top and not realize gas is even on. This has happened to us many times, its only by the grace of God we are still here to tell this story. Once I cleaned the cook top and again no sound or clicks to alert its on, I fell asleep and my husband arrived about 45 minutes later to the fumes which I could not even smell from the living room where I fell asleep. This has happened at least 10 times in a span of 2 years. Its a dangerous cook top that does not warn you. I called Whirlpool only to be told its normal and that's the way it was designed. It makes me wonder of these house explosions, how easily this could happen if a cook top like this stays on with no warning of clicking or lighting up. I will replace as soon as its in my budget because Whirlpool did nothing to resolve it !

The cooktop works well however I am 5'2" tall and the extremely high grates are a real problem for someone my height. In order to cook anything in a dutch oven I have to stand up on my toes to see what is in the pot. My arm gets stressed trying to reach over a pot with higher sides. The product was designed by someone much taller it appears.

Ordered this item online on Friday with a live agent walking through the process. Got a price match to Home Depot. Order was cancelled during the weekend. Called and waited online for 30 min, then transfered to another line for 30 min. Agent told me "Our system doesn't like the information on this order, find a local retailor." Got the supervisor, who said "Yes, that what our system does. Bye bye".
Horrible system, worst customer service ever. No reason to consider Kitchenaid or Whirlpool in the future.

I am sorry I purchased this stovetop. Less than 6 months after purchase, the stainless steel was spotted, had many scratches, and looked as bad as the one I replaced, despite constant cleaning and meticulous care. When I called customer service to make an inquiry on the apparent softness of the stainless steel, they were rude and told me it was my fault. Do not buy this product!

Extremely Unsafe Cooktop, Grates Slip Constantly
Dwes
5/6/2025
We were excited to install the KitchenAid KCGS356ESS05 gas cooktop in our new home, but it has been a huge disappointment and, more importantly, a serious safety hazard.
The grates are poorly designed and frequently slip out of place while cooking. This happens regularly and is not a fluke. The small suction-like pads on the corners that are supposed to keep the grates stable easily slide off the metal surface, making the entire cooking surface unstable. This is a significant safety risk if you're boiling water or frying something.
I contacted the 5-year protection plan we purchased from Home Depot for an additional $195. I was sure this safety issue of the cooking grates sliding off while cooking would be covered. Instead, I was told it wasn't. I was advised to buy replacement grates out of pocket. How is a design flaw like this not covered under warranty? I canceled the plan and requested a prorated refund.
KitchenAid, I trusted your brand, but I regret this purchase. I will not recommend this cooktop to anyone for over $1000, which is small compared to the accident waiting to happen. KitchenAid has set consumers like me up for failure. I am considering replacing it with a safer, more reliable model from LG or Maytag before someone in my household gets hurt, even if KitchenAid does not have a solution.

the first time I used it there was a propane leak in the cooktop and all the burners came off when it went "BOOM". Thank God it happened before too much propane built up. Kitchenaid is sending a new one out, but I've been waiting a month so far. It sucks not having a cooktop. Been using a single plug-in burner. UGH!!!

This gas cooktop is much better than our old one. The LP conversion was successful, and the burners easier to regulate, though the labels and instructions for the burner tips didn™™t quite match the color coding. So we had a little guesswork there. The knobs are metal and sturdy, unlike the plastic knobs on our old cooktop. So far we™™re very happy with it. I do miss the hinged grates, but that™™s not a major issue.
